MAPPING NOWHERE

Mapping Nowhere is comprised of 14 paintings, each in the range of 48 x 48" (created on a flexible substrate and then mounted to a clean white panel). Each painting is representative of a specific place or region. The scale varies: some of the pieces cover hundreds of miles, some just a few miles. These are places I've lived, or have visited frequently, and are places that have influenced my life. How do we define ourselves by where we live?  How do others define us?  How does place define or even change us?  These works simultaneously reference my experience of place and my investigation of the relationship between people and place.

Images of the paintings also exist as a series of serigraphs and salted paper prints.
